Tamilian tadka to Bengali cuisine!

You’d be pleasantly surprised to meet Deepa Laxmi! This true blue Tamilian runs a Bengali restaurant which serves some of the most authentic and lip smacking Bengali dishes in a prominent locality of Delhi which has a large Bengali community living there since ages.

Being a working woman, ex-NDTV employee Laxmi and her business partner Amit Mitra (also in a corporate job) wanted to begin a startup through their savings. That’s how ‘Madly Bangalee Restaurant‘ (Best Bengali restaurant in the national capital) came into existence.

Ask her about the hottest selling dish of the restaurant, and Laxmi immediately replies, “Though you’ll find complete Bengali food in a Punjabi city like Delhi, ‘Mutton Dak Bungalow‘ tops the list as the most popular dish. This dish is cooked in tender coconut & spices followed by ‘Illish Mach’, ‘Chingri‘. And without ‘Aaloo Posto‘ & ‘Begun Bhaja‘, this meal is incomplete!

One of the main reasons why authentic Bengali cuisine is served at Madly Bangalee Restaurant is because all the dishes are prepared by Bengali chefs.

Interestingly, the cutlery used here is made of copper. “If you go into the rural areas of Bengal, you will still find people using copper cutlery. So it denotes our Bengali culinary culture and tradition,” shares Laxmi.

Located at K1/52, Ground Floor, Chittaranjan Park, New Delhi, this is a must try place for those who love authentic Bengali cuisine.
